Sustainability and Resilience Planning in NWA

Join this discussion to hear from community leaders about sustainability and resilience planning efforts currently underway to help northwest Arkansas be more sustainable as our region continues to grow and develop. You’ll learn about the City of Fayetteville’s Climate Action Plan and the Northwest Arkansas Energy & Environment Innovation Plan, and get a peek at a new online mapping tool developed to help local landowners, planners, and decision-makers identify ecologically valuable land that will assist them in their efforts to improve sustainability and resilience in our region.

Fayetteville’s Climate Action Plan was developed to help the city reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2050 and to implement nature-based climate adaptation goals to enhance ecosystem services and adaptive resilience.

The NWA Energy & Environment Innovation Plan is currently being developed to promote a sustainable and resilient future for the region, and to support investment in measures and solutions that reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, create high-quality jobs, spur economic growth, and enable access to and enhance NWA competitiveness for federal funding opportunities.
