NWA Bucket List: 21 Things to Look Forward to 2021

As we close out what was a challenging year in many ways, we welcome a new one, full of anticipation, hope and possibility. Here’s a list of 21 fun things to look forward to in Northwest Arkansas in 2021.

1. Explore NWA’s historic downtowns, from the Eureka Springs Downtown Historic District to vibrant offerings in Fayetteville, Bentonville, Rogers, Siloam Springs, Springdale, Berryville and beyond.

2. Experience live music at the Fayetteville Roots Festival set for September 2021, or with a camping & concert event at The Farm in Eureka Springs.

3. Shred 250+ miles of off-road bike trails, some of the best in the nation with Bella Vista’s Back 40 and Little Sugar Trails, Bentonville’s Slaughter Pen, Fitzgerald Mountain in Springdale, Mount Kessler in Fayetteville and more! Visit oztrailsnwa.com.

4. Discover NWA’s patio culture with designated spots for drinking and dining al fresco: the Fayetteville Outdoor Refreshment Area and Downtown Springdale Outdoor Dining District.

5. Go to the Walmart AMP in Rogers, newly expanded in 2020, with even more seating and expanded flex space. With concerts scheduled for 2021.

6. Geek out on science and learning at the Scott Family Amazeum in Bentonville, winner of TripAdvisor’s 2020 Traveler’s Choice Award.

7. Catch live sports action with the Arkansas Razorbacks in Fayetteville, the Northwest Arkansas Naturals in Springdale, and the NW Arkansas LPGA Championship in Rogers.

8. Experience art and nature at Bentonville’s Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, with major exhibitions in 2021, world-class architecture, and art and nature trails. 

9. Explore the Momentary contemporary art space in downtown Bentonville, with gallery exhibitions, outdoor visual art, performance art and creative culinary experiences.

10. Visit NWA’s display gardens for the best of native flora at the Botanical Garden of the Ozarks in Fayetteville and Compton Gardens in Bentonville.

11. Take in a Broadway musical at the Walton Arts Center, or an award-winning play by TheatreSquared, the region’s nationally acclaimed, professional theater. Both in Fayetteville.

12. Get fresh at one of NWA’s bountiful farmers markets, many with curbside pickup: Bentonville, Berryville, HuntsvilleFayetteville, Rogers, Siloam Springs and Springdale.

13. Stimulate big imaginations with safe, masked activities and exhibits at Springdale’s newest attraction the J.B. and Johnelle Hunt Family Ozark Highlands Nature Center.

14. Hone your skills at the Runway Bike Park and the Velosolutions Pump Track in Springdale, and the world-class Railyard Bike Park in Rogers, which is embarking on a park redesign.

15. Behold NWA’s famed glass chapels from the venerable Thorncrown Chapel in Eureka Springs to Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel in Bella Vista.

16. Take a scenic drive! Head out along the Pig Trail Scenic Byway, Eureka Springs Art & Heritage Motorcycle Tour, and other trails listed at arkansas.com.

17. Explore NWA’s state parks: Hobbs State Park & Conservation Area, Withrow Springs State Park, Devil’s Den State Park and Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park.

18. Go jump in a lake! From Beaver Lake to Table Rock Lake, Lake Wedington, Lake Leatherwood, Lake Atalanta  — there’s no shortage of water in NWA!


19. Whitewater anyone?! Put your kayaking skills to the test at the Siloam Springs Kayak Park.

20. Get a rich lesson in history at one of our many, diverse museums:
