SUMMARY:American Radio Relay League Annual Field Day
DESCRIPTION:Contact:\nTom Northfell – Bella Vista Area Radio Club 2023 Field Day Coordinator\nw5xna@arrl.net]\n479-530-0967 \nMEDIA ADVISORY \n2023 ARRL Field Day — June 24 – 25\nHam Radio Operators On the Air for Nationwide Event June 24 – 25 \nHam radio operators from the Bella Vista Area Radio Club in NW Arkansas and the Tri-State Region will be participating in a national amateur radio exercise from 1 pm on Saturday until 11:59 am on Sunday\, June 24 – 25 at Metfied Skills Park in Bella Vista\, Arkansas. Members of the public are cordially invited and encouraged to attend. The event is ARRL Field Day (www.arrl.org/FieldDay)\, an annual amateur radio activity organized since 1933 by ARRL\, The National Association for Amateur Radio in the United States. \nHams from across North America ordinarily participate in Field Day by establishing temporary ham radio stations in public locations to demonstrate their skill and service. Their use of radio signals\, which reach beyond borders\, bring people together while providing essential communication in the service of communities. Field Day highlights ham radio’s ability to work reliably under any conditions from almost any location and create an independent\, wireless communications network. \nSome hams from the ARRL Arkansas Section will also use the radio stations set up in their homes or taken to their backyards and other locations to operate individually or with their families. Many hams have portable radio communication capability that includes alternative energy sources such as generators\, solar panels\, and batteries to power their equipment.\nThis year’s event is also noteworthy given that a particularly active hurricane season is predicted. “Hams have a long history of serving our communities when storms or other disasters damage critical communication infrastructure\, including cell towers\,” said Tom Northfell W5XNA – Bella Vista Area Radio Club Field Day Coordinator. “Ham radio functions completely independently of the internet and phone systems and a station can be set up almost anywhere in minutes. Hams can quickly raise a wire antenna in a tree or on a mast\, connect it to a radio and power source\, and communicate effectively with others\,” Northfell added.\nDuring Field Day 2021\, more than 26\,000 hams participated from thousands of locations across North America. According to ARRL\, there are more than 750\,000 amateur radio licensees in the US\, and an estimated 3 million worldwide.\nAmong the tenets of the Amateur Radio Service is developing and practicing skills in radio technology and radio communications\, and even contributing to international goodwill. Hams range in age from as young as 9 to older than 100. A self-study license guide is available from ARRL: The ARRL Ham Radio License Manual (www.arrl.org/shop/Ham-Radio-License-Manual) and for Kindle (https://read.amazon.com/kp/embed?asin=B07DFSW94G). SUMMARY:Walker Hayes Duck Buck Tour with Ingrid Andress and BRELAND
DESCRIPTION:Originally from Mobile\, Alabama\, Walker Hayes’ humble southern roots and family values are put on full display in his new song “Face in the Crowd.” With this new track he continues to share stories that reflect his personal life and experiences that millions of listeners can relate to and a way of writing that led the Washington Post to write “Hayes has broken into the mainstream by sounding different.” \n“Face in the Crowd\,” available everywhere now\, is astorysong detailing the true love between Hayes and his number one fan – wife Laney Hayes. True to Hayes’ signature songwritingstyle\, which Billboard praised as “personal\, soul-bearing storylines; rolling rhymes; and Macklemore-like cadence\,”he sings: \n“When my 15 minutes ends / and the world loves me a little less / I hope you know that you’re the only one / I was trying to impress / if I sold out Bryant-Denny / made my sweet home so proud / all I ever cared about\, all I ever cared about was your face in the crowd”
