Experience art, nature and color like never before this season during Summer at Crystal Bridges! With brand-new art exhibitions in the galleries, the return of glass artist Dale Chihuly crowd-favorites to the museum’s nature trails, and forest concerts under the sky, awe-inspiring adventure awaits you and your family at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art.
Two new major exhibitions are on display this summer, both of which offer fresh perspectives of the world around us: Nature’s Nation: American Art and Environment and Color Field.
Nature’s Nation: American Art and Environment illuminates the connection between art and nature, similar to the mission of Crystal Bridges. Featuring 100 artworks from renowned artists such as Albert Bierstadt, Charlies Willson Peale, Frank Lloyd Wright, Georgia O’Keeffe, Dorothea Lange and more, Nature’s Nation traces 300 years of evolving ideas about the natural world and our place within it.
Take a whimsical romp through Color Field, a new outdoor exhibition featuring large, colorful sculptures against a backdrop of Ozark forest. Learn about color theory, interact with sculpture, see exciting work from today’s contemporary artists, and discover the impact color has on our lives.
See both exhibitions for the price of one combo ticket. Museum members, veterans, and youth 18 and under get into both exhibitions for free!
Each Saturday night through July, the museum’s forest will be humming with the sounds of the 2019 Forest Concert Series! Take in the magic of the evening glow amongst the serene setting of the beautiful North Forest and artwork installations. Local and national talent fill the lineup with artists including Yarn, Dawson Hollow, The Werks, Friends of the Phamily, Arkansauce, Black Pumas, Audiopharmacy, Flor De Toloache, Big Chief Juan Pardo and Charlie Hunter Trio! Bring the family for a night of dancing under the starts and guaranteed fun! Visit our Summer of Music blog for a full lineup listing.
The blockbuster exhibition from summer 2017, Chihuly: In the Gallery + In the Forest, was so wildly popular that Crystal Bridges has recently acquired five Chihuly artworks to stay at the museum permanently! Revisit a favorite from the exhibition, or discover these works for the first time as you encounter the stunning chandelier indoors near the gallery spaces, and later when you make your way outdoors along the route from Nature’s Nation to Color Field.
